It’s fair to say that Owen and Zoey’s handcrafted Court Gardens Farm wedding damn near blew me away! It fell on the weekend before the heatwave finally ended and really was the most perfect of high summer weddings. The ceremony was held at the beautiful St Margaret’s, Buxted with Zoey, looking every inch the blushing bride, arriving in the always popular VW camper. A truly heartwarming ceremony – and an emotional bride! – followed on from there.
Afterwards we headed off to to Court Gardens Farm for the reception. Owen and Zoey were so very well organised and had DIY’ed a lot of the wedding – including (I kid you not ) a bowling alley for games at the farm! I’ve shot quite a few weddings now at Court Gardens Farm but when I walked into the barn and saw the huge amount of effort that had gone into transforming it, it almost took my breath away! Paper crafted pom poms, beautiful wild flowers filling every available vase and jam jar, bunting of course 🙂 and even potted silver birch tree cuttings to fill out corners and really bring the outdoors in. I have it on good authority that much of the day before was spent with friends and family who worked hard to make it look so beautiful. And Zoey’s sister is also a pastry chef – and baked the cake!
As we popped off for photos in the vineyard and surrounding fields and barns the sun properly came out and it was great to soak up the rustic atmosphere and hot sunshine before heading back for some outdoor games and a Ploughman’s tea – the catering here is second to none! After a very funny best man’s speech involving cats, holiday snaps and one of the more interesting uses of photoshop I’ve seen in a long while (!) family and friends relaxed outside on hay bales, grabbing a drink or two from ‘the local’ on their way while the band set up inside the barn for the first dance. This of course was the weekend that Mumford & Sons stopped over in Lewes so you’d be forgiven for thinking that Owen and Zoey might have kicked off the dancing with a bit of a hoedown but instead chose Florence and the Machine’s You’ve Got The Love which perfectly summed them up and in fact summed up their whole wedding. A long and happy married life most definitely awaits this lovely couple 🙂 Thanks go to second shooter Naomi for joining me on the day and nailing some great shots on her first time out.
