Polly & Andy’s Brunswick Pub wedding was right up there with weddings I just love to shoot!
I first met them whilst shooting Polly’s brother Ben’s beautiful Vow Renewal last autumn. It is always brilliant to come recommended and even better to come back and shoot another wedding for a family as lovely as this one 🙂 Andy and Polly’s big day kicked off the 2014 season on a wet and gloomy afternoon at the end of February. However, bad weather has yet to dampen the spirits of any wedding day I have photographed to date, and this proved no exception. Polly was well prepared for the vagaries of our great british climate with two green frog umbrellas nicely matched to her green wedding shoes 🙂
Before the ceremony I met Polly and Andy at home for some photos of them all dressed up and ready to go and I have to say they both looked absolutely fab! Polly’s mum Margaret is a real whizz with that needle and thread – not only did she make the 50’s prom style dresses she and Polly wore to Ben & Alyssa’s Vow Renewal but she also made Polly’s wedding dress with Polly taking on the challenge (with clearly no problems) of the button bouquet! The ceremony was held at Brighton Town Hall with just immediate family present and I think we were all blown away by the entrance music – a song that Andy had written especially for them. So very personal and poignant. And that is where I left the newlyweds for a little while – meeting up with them and all of their family and friends on Saturday for their Beer Festival themed wedding reception at the Brunswick in Hove.
Polly and Andy arrived at the Brunswick in a shower of confetti and headed straight for the bar to down that all important and well deserved first pint! With canapes circulating and burgers and sausages on the grill the party got off to a a cracking start followed by our newlyweds giving up an impromptu performance of American Pie on the karaoke. As dusk fell and people ate drank and made merry, speeches were given, cakes cut and first dances danced, it was fantastic to see friends and family come together on Polly and Andy’s big day, to pool their craft and cake making skills and to help them plan a wedding that everyone could enjoy. And that is exactly – exactly what happened, the smiles in the pictures tell the story of a wonderful occasion choc full of love and laughter.
