Nic & Lizi’s Sussex village hall wedding at Alciston and Selmeston Village Hall was the best mix of all things weddings should be about – family, friends, good food, good times and being mad, crazy, head over heels in love with one another! The day began in Lewes with a ceremony at the Old Town Hall and I think Nic was quite possibly the most emotional groom I’ve known to date! Just so heartwarming to listen to the couple’s personal readings and to see how much the words meant to them both – I think we all needed a hanky by the end – including the registrar!
Afterwards we headed off and out into the countryside for photos in the warm May sunshine. At this time of year the fields are always full to bursting with bright yellow flowers and hay bales and we found the perfect spot to take full advantage of them. I just loved Nic & Lizi’s retro style. Lizi’s dress was an actual original from the 1960’s and her short veil was the perfect compliment as was that beautiful bouquet 🙂
With an hour or so to spare before the reception party began, Nic & Lizi were able to take some quiet time out by themselves before the celebrations got underway and I popped on up to Alciston & Selmeston Village Hall where afternoon tea preparations were in full swing, with friends and family all mucking in alongside the catering team to get the kettle on and the cake constructed! And just take a look at the room. Yet another shining example of how super talented in the crafting department my couples are. I do believe Nic spent quite a chunk of the day before hand writing the names on the table runner!
A few relaxed group photos either side of tea and speeches (just the way I like it!) and the oven was lit for an evening hog roast. As dusk fell and the drinks flowed, tables were folded up to make way for dancing under the twinkling fairy lights. What an absolute joy it was to spend the day with this sweet and loving couple and their family and friends and to catch up with some familiar faces! I wish them all the best for a fab married life together 🙂
