DULWICH COLLEGE OLD LIBRARY WEDDING
Adam and Aimee’s Dulwich College Old Library wedding was possibly one of THE wettest July days on record. It really did chuck it down all day long and for many a bride this could have signalled, at best, a resigned sigh, at worst, a complete melt down! Fortunately the couples I work with don’t let a little thing like torrential rain (or even tail ends of hurricanes) get in the way of them celebrating the best day of their lives and Adam and Aimee were no exception 🙂
As weddings go this one was right up my alley (despite the weather!) and it is always lovely to arrive at the start of any day to find the bride in amongst the bustle of family and friends getting ready, having her hair and make-up done and watching Bargain Hunt on the telly!
What’s even nicer is to find out is that she has actually made the dress she is going to wear. I’m a huge fan of something a little bit different in the dress department and this unusual gown with a real dash of 40’s style was totally 100% Aimee 🙂
At Dulwich College Old Library, battling the downpours and armed with umbrellas, the boys were ready and waiting, beards neatly trimmed and looking fab, as were the maids in gorgeous bottle green tea length slip dresses. The ceremony got underway and just look at Dad as the vows were exchanged – so proud and protective! With the register signed and an unscheduled return to the hotel for confetti negotiated, we were able to grab a quiet few minutes to get photos of just Adam & Aimee together.
With the weather firmly against us we made the most of the ceremony room before braving it outside for some group photos. Bless this whole wedding party for jumping on board with my suggestion that these photos really would look better outside (and thank you Simon for holding that umbrella over my head for the duration)! Teetering about in heels on the wet grass huddling under umbrellas, they were certainly game as were Adam & Aimee, who just lit up a cigarette and got on with it!
I think we were all quite relieved after that to get down the road and into the Rosendale Pub for the reception. The West Room upstairs looked lovely strung with yards of bunting and fairy lights, with vinyl 45’s making up the table centerpieces. I have it on good authority that the evening dancing went down a storm!
Such a great wedding – I loved every minute of it and wish this lovely young couple all the absolute best for the long and happy married life together I know they will have 🙂
